Chronic Lyme disease caused by an undetected tick bite - REVISALUT® in Vienna

Borrelia bacteria, which cause Lyme disease, can be transmitted through a tick bite. If the typical skin rash is recognized in time, the infection can be treated effectively with antibiotics. If the rash is not recognized, it can develop into a chronic form. As borrelia are sensitive to oxygen, they can survive in areas with a low blood supply, such as the joints and tendons or the nervous system, as antibiotic therapy cannot reach them.

The effects of Lyme disease

Constant tiredness, exhaustion, muscle and joint pain, psycho-emotional complaints such as concentration problems, forgetfulness, sleep disorders and depressive moods are just some of the symptoms. The confrontation of the organism with the pathogen leads to chronic inflammatory processes, which over time lead to a malfunction of the mitochondria (power plants of the cells) and significantly impede the body's energy supply.

The effectiveness of IHHT in chronic Lyme disease

On the one hand, IHHT strengthens the mitochondria, which supports an improvement in physical performance and mental recovery. On the other hand, the sensitivity of borrelia to oxygen is exploited. Breathing low-dose oxygen for a short time, for example 10% O₂ instead of the normal 21% O₂, also reduces the oxygen content of the surrounding tissue and the Borrelia bacteria leave their 'protected area'; breathing a high dose of oxygen (30-40% O₂) partially kills the Borrelia bacteria. Several sessions are necessary, which should be supplemented with high-dose vitamin C infusions, as the bacteria die more easily due to the additional antioxidant effect.
